Teaching the Course
What would I be teaching in a SPU course?
In teaching Science for Public Understanding, there are three 'threads' to be taught:
- Teaching topics, which are the contexts for the study of science.
- Ideas about science, which are about the nature of science and scientific method.
- Science explanations, giving the broad scientific principles necessary for understanding the contexts.
At first sight the specification appears to be complicated, so we have produced an explanation of how to go about incorporating these threads in your teaching.

Can SPU be taught outside the normal timetable?
Some schools and colleges want to offer SPU but are unable to include it in the normal timetable.
Here (65 KB) is an exchange of ideas on how this can be done taken from the SPU email discussion list (with permission).
